Platelet-Rich-Plasma-PRPWhat is PRP ?

Every once in a while something comes along that fills a niche and the problem is solved. That something is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). Our blood is made up of four main components: red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma. Plasma is merely the liquid coponent of blood that carrie the platelets, red and white cells. Platelets play a key role in the healing process, by assisting blood clotting and releasing growth factors that help the human body to regenerate new tissue and repair itself. The efficacy of certain growth factors in healing various injuries and the concentrations of these growth factors found within PRP are the basis for the use of PRP in tissue repair.

How can PRP help you?

Thanks to the fascinating advances in technology, Platelet Rich Plasma can easily be separated from blood through a process of centrifugation. We concentrate the platelets collected in PRP and activate them by adding thrombin and/or calcium chloride, which induces the release of these factors from alpha granules. When these concentrated platelets are reinjected, they do not only turn into activated, healing cells, but they also activate dormant ones that have gone into a quiescent state. Using your enriched plasma allows the body to heal faster and more efficiently. Because your own plasma (autologous) is used, there is no danger of disease transmission anaphylasis or neoplastia.

What are the PRP applications?

PRP injections are safely used in many fields, including sports medicine, orthopedics, cosmetics, fasciomaxillary and urology. At Casanova Clinic, we utilize PRP injections to rejuvenate and slow down the aging process, to stimulate hair growth, to improve joint function and mitigate the progression of joint degeneration, to heal tendon and other musculoskeletal injuries. PRP injections have useful applications for both men and women. Injecting concentrated growth factors into the hair stimulated hair follicles growth. When injected into the face, it fills and lifts up. We had excellent results injecting it into joints, crinkly skin on the arms and legs. When injecting it into the fine lines around the lips, it drastically reduces the lines that cause lipstick bleeding. If your eyes are sinking in, PRP seems to magically fill them in, providing excellent results around and under the eyes. By injecting the cheeks and around the mouth, you can bring these areas back to their youthful appearance. Overall, it is a fantastic new tool to keep you looking and feeling younger.
